Incursions & Excursions for Schools, Kindergartens & OSHC

Bring sewing, creativity, and sustainability into your learning program with Little Stitch Academy’s hands-on workshops available as incursions (we come to you) or excursions at our Preston studio.

Our workshops are aligned with STEAM learning and designed for Kindergarten to Year 12, combining creativity, design thinking, practical mending skills, and environmental awareness in an engaging, age-appropriate way.

Students don’t just make something, they build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of how caring for clothes can reduce waste.

We recommend contacting your local council’s sustainability or community development team — application processes are usually straightforward and schools often qualify automatically.

Commitment to Child Safety & Inclusion

At Little Stitch Academy, creating a safe and welcoming space for children is extremely important to us. As parents ourselves, we understand how much trust families place in anyone working with their children. That’s why we take child safety seriously in everything we do.

We follow the Victorian Child Safe Standards and make children’s wellbeing, safety, and confidence a priority in our studio.

Our practices include:

✔ Following clear child safety policies and procedures in line with the Victorian Child Safe Standards

✔ Creating a welcoming and respectful environment for all children, including those who are neurodiverse or have additional needs

✔ All staff hold a valid Working With Children Check

✔ Staff maintain current First Aid and CPR certification, including Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting (HLTAID012)

✔ Clear procedures for identifying and responding to child safety concerns

✔ When workshops run without parents present, the studio doors remain locked during sessions to ensure children remain in a safe and supervised environment

✔ A visible and open studio space, with large windows facing the street

✔ A non-judgmental environment where children can build creativity, confidence, and self-expression

✔ Protection of children’s privacy and digital safety, photos showing children’s faces are not taken during workshops

Any images that may appear on our social media feature staff members’ own children or children whose parents have provided explicit consent.

We proudly celebrate diversity and believe every child, regardless of background, needs, or abilities, deserves the opportunity to learn, create, and thrive.
