Adult Sewing Course - FOUNDATIONS

(6 Weeks - 3hrs per class)

Always wanted to learn how to sew but don't know where to start?

In a friendly, supportive environment, learn how to confidently use a sewing machine and master essential sewing techniques. Each week focuses on a different skill, helping you build confidence and develop the techniques needed to start your own sewing projects at home.

What's Included?

All sewing machines and class materials are provided.

For Weeks 5 and 6, you'll have the opportunity to choose and bring your own fabric for your garment project. Your teacher will discuss suitable fabric options with you during Week 4. For practice projects, you're welcome to use fabrics available in the studio.

By the End of this Course

You'll leave with practical sewing skills, several completed projects, a handmade garment, and the confidence to continue sewing at home.

Course Outline

Week 1: Sewing machine basics and your first beginner-friendly project.

Week 2: Mend and repair that pile of clothing! Learn valuable skills to repair, alter and extend the life of your garments. Bring along items such as trousers to hem, loose buttons, tears or other repairs.

Week 3: Introduction to essential construction techniques including seams, zips, pockets, gathering and buttonholes.

Week 4: Put your new skills into practice by making our signature blanket tote bag or cosmetic pouch.

Week 5: Introduction to reading and understanding commercial sewing patterns. Choose from several garment patterns and begin making your own garment.

Week 6: Complete your garment, consolidate your new skills, and discuss ideas and next steps for future sewing projects.

Course Availability

To ensure a great group learning experience, a minimum of 8 participants is required for each course to run. If minimum enrolments are not reached, the scheduled course may be rescheduled or cancelled. Participants will be notified in advance and offered an alternative session or a full refund.

Attendance, Cancellations & Make-Up Classes

As places in this course are limited, refunds are not available for missed classes or change of mind once the course has commenced. Prior to the start of the course, cancellations may be eligible for a refund with at least 48 hours' notice.

If you're unable to attend a class, please let us know as soon as possible. Subject to availability, we may be able to offer a make-up class in another Foundations Sewing Course running during the same week.

Make-up classes are not guaranteed and must be completed within the same week as the missed class, as all courses follow the same weekly schedule. Missed classes cannot be carried forward to future terms or courses.

If you're unable to attend a make-up class, don't worry. Our teachers will do their best to help you catch up on any missed content so that you can continue with confidence and won't feel left behind in subsequent classes.

If Little Stitch Academy cancels a class, an alternative class date will be offered. If an alternative class cannot be provided, a partial refund will be issued for the cancelled session.
