Child Market Stall

⚠️ IMPORTANT: PARENT SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES. This is not a supervised activity. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children throughout the entire event.

Give your young maker the chance to open their very own mini shop at our Christmas Market! Children can sell their handmade creations, practise handling money, think about pricing and presentation, and experience the excitement of running their own little business.

How it works

Stalls are $10 per child, pre-booked and pre-paid, and spaces are limited. Tables will generally be shared between three children, with neighbouring tables where possible for friends or groups.

Each child is responsible for setting up their own little shop. Before the event, encourage them to think about:

• Shop name and signage
• Decorations and product display
• Price tags
• A tablecloth – this can simply be a nice piece of fabric to cover the table. Tablecloths are not provided by Little Stitch Academy, so please bring your own.
• Finished products ready to sell – give everything a final check and make sure loose threads are trimmed.
• Enough stock for the day
• A money box or little bum bag to safely keep their cash and change
• Pricing and profit – encourage them to think about what their creations cost, what they will charge and how much they might earn from their little shop.

It’s all part of the fun of creating and running their own mini business!

Parent supervision & payments

At least one parent/guardian must supervise each table at all times. Little Stitch Academy staff will be busy running the event and cannot supervise children or manage their sales or money.

Children will primarily be trading with cash, so please come prepared with some change and help your child make sure they are receiving and giving back the correct amounts.

If you choose to provide another payment method, such as a card reader, that is entirely at the parent's discretion and responsibility.

A little extra from Little Stitch Academy ❤️

Throughout the year, we’ve kept some of the sample pieces we made while testing projects rather than letting them go to waste. We’ll share these amongst our young stallholders to keep or add to their shop and sell.

We expect this will be approximately one item per child, but this isn't guaranteed, so please don't count these pieces when planning how much stock to make.

Most importantly, let the kids have fun with it! Their shop doesn't need to be perfect. We want them to feel proud of what they've made, have fun creating their display and experience the excitement of running their own little shop.
