📍 Location: 509 High Street, Preston VIC 3072
What We Do
In our 55-minute weekly classes, children learn to:
- Use a sewing machine safely
- Mend and upcycle garments
- Explore beginner fashion design and construction
Each child works on their own project, at their own pace, with close supervision and individual guidance.
Who Can Participate
Classes are suitable for school-aged children from 5 years old through to teens.
While children are welcome in any time slot, the guide below can help you choose the best fit:
-
4:00–5:00pm
Best for younger children and beginners who enjoy an earlier session and gentle, beginner-friendly projects.
-
5:00–6:00pm
A mixed-age, all-levels class with a great balance of ages. Everyone works happily alongside each other.
-
6:00–7:00pm
Often preferred by older, more independent children and teens.
These are recommendations only. Sewing is individual, so mixed ages are never an issue.
Children are welcome to try different sessions, and when booking for the term you’ll have the option to reschedule a session if you’d like to explore another day or time.
Morning Sessions (Thursday & Friday)
Our Thursday and Friday morning sessions are semi-private sewing classes open to both children and adults. They offer a small, calm learning environment that suits a wide range of learners, including home-schooled students, adults wanting to learn during the day, parents and children learning together, or anyone who prefers a quieter class setting.
These sessions run in the same studio environment as our after-school classes, but because they take place during the day they are often very small or even private, allowing for plenty of individual guidance and support from the teacher.
The atmosphere is naturally calm and sensory-friendly, with low to no background music, making the space comfortable for anyone who benefits from a quieter environment. We warmly welcome people of all abilities.
Classes are project-based and tailored to each participant. Students work at their own pace and can either follow projects provided by the studio or bring their own project if there is something specific they would like to learn or make.
Sessions can be booked for one or two hours, either as a one-off lesson or as a regular weekly class.
Bookings are available on our website under Casual classes only.
Safety & Privacy
We teach strong safety habits and supervise closely at all times.
Minor needle pricks or small accidents may occasionally occur — this is a normal part of learning to sew, and incidents are always managed calmly and safely.
To respect the privacy of all children:
- No photos are taken during class
- If you’d like a photo of your child sewing, please speak with us to organise this separately
Mobile phones are not permitted during class. Children are asked to keep phones away for the duration of the session.
Pricing
- Term 2 (10 weeks): $380
All sewing machines and materials are included.
Book 2 or more classes and enjoy a multi-booking discount.
What to Bring
Children may bring:
- A water bottle
- A small snack if needed
All sewing equipment and supplies are provided.
Parent & Sibling Access
For safety reasons, parents and siblings are not permitted inside the sewing room during class time.
Parents do not need to stay, but you’re welcome to relax in our parent area.
Power points are available if you’d like to work while you wait.
Entry, Exit & Supervision
- The front door remains locked during class for safety
- The door is opened between sessions for safe entry and exit
- No child is permitted to leave the studio unaccompanied
If a parent is running late, children will wait safely in the waiting area until collected.
Please ensure prompt arrival for both drop-off and pick-up.
Make-Up Classes
If your child misses a class, we’re happy to help reschedule it in another session during the same term, subject to availability.
Please note:
- Our system does not account for public holidays. If a class falls on a public holiday, it will need to be rescheduled. You can do this via the booking link, or contact us for assistance.
- We’ll always do our best to find a make-up class, but spots are limited due to the popularity of our sessions. Please try to reschedule before a missed class if possible, so other children on the waitlist also have a chance to join.
- If your child is unable to attend a class, please let us know as soon as possible. We’re happy to fit them into another session if space allows, but make-ups cannot be arranged after an unexplained absence.
- Missed classes cannot be refunded, credited, or carried over.
- To ensure safe supervision, make-up requests may occasionally be declined if a class is already full.
